When Pigs Fly

& Other Poems

Michelle McLean

Illustrated by Sophie Arseneau

“Beware the Frumps who Criticize, the Grumps who Scowl with Beady Eyes ...”

From flying pigs to frumps to fire-breathing dragonflies, When Pigs Fly is a fanciful romp around the neighbourhood where the words are at play and things can get a little punny! This collection is now fully illustrated and in print for the first time.

“Absolutely delightful, well-crafted nonsense verse. Love this whimsy & witty wordplay! I take my nonsense seriously! This is serious, captivating joy!”

– Sheree Fitch, author, book shoppe owner, nonsense-maker

Winner of 2nd Place Award in the Writing for Children category, Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick, 2007.

The judge said, “... a splendid collection of poetry that captures the concerns and experiences of childhood, then puts a wild and wacky twist on each of them.”
